How could I have forgotten to post these dresses? They are my favorites too. One friend said they look like Hilfigers!! I don't know about that, but I really like the fabric. I just wish it wasn't a remnant and I could find more...

Dressland

I have been busy working on dresses lately. I am liking them more and more the more I make, and getting inspired to add trims and branch out into trying new designs. I've only got so much fabriv to work with before I have to go out and buy some more, so I'm trying to to use all of the stuff I have to get really good at making them. Then selling them becomes a priority! Had lots of interest but so far no sales.

I think Etsy takes a little while before you really get good and established but I think for only being on it for about three months and already having six sales isn't too bad. One community I belong to has had a discussion lately about folks being on etsy a year and having zero sales. I know it depends on the products being marketed but I feel like the "baby stuff" market is a bit flooded so I am branching out into the adolescent girl market a bit more. Still doing all the baby burp clothes and bibs, but I'm going to focus more on girls dresses and hairbows now. It seems there is more interest in those, and therefore more money to be made.

I've also been focusing more on the quality of the photos I take of the products. It helps that I have a very nice yard to stage outdoor "natural" looking pics. I am really pleased with how they have turned out. Now if I can figure out props and display techniques for the burp cloths and hairbows I will be in business! Any suggestions are welcomed in comments!!!

I made another teeny tag blanket for Carly yesterday. Look at her with it this morning! So darn cute. If you look close she is asleep with one of the ribbons in her mouth. Exactly the point! :)

Today I made bows! It was a fun day. I only get in a bow-making mood every so often so when I do it's fun stuff. I made a couple of small pigtail sets, one huge layered loopy bow, and a yellow pinwheel. I was due to make a red pinwheel, but ran out of time.

Next on my creativity list is a pacifier sack and a nursing cover. Still working the specifics of the nursing cover through my brain so that will be a couple more days.

I'd also like to make Carly another teeny tag blankie. This one will be various shades of pink. That thought just came to me as I looked at my pile of ribbon, which consists of at least 10 different shades and variations of pink.

Another week ahead, another pile of ideas!!

New Ribbon!

I just received my first order of ribbon from the Ribbon Retreat and I can't wait to get started making more bows!! I've also got a brainstorm of different pillowcase dress combinations. I have way more ideas than I have time for, so we'll see how long it takes to get these things done.

Weekend Projects

I had a burst of creative energy these last two days. Probably it's because I got all my craft things unpacked and organized so I can see what I have! I've got a list going of all the new things I want to make and I'm quickly striking things off! Hooray for Saturdays!

I made Carly a tiny lovey to chew on:

I made this burp cloth/lap pad last night too. Took a blingy lace trim and added a few ribbon lengths to a bought minky burp pad.

And for my favorite project of the weekend: my very first pillowcase dress! I didn't really use a pillowcase, but some super cute clearance fabric. I have enough fabric leftover to do another one too. I am proud of the way it turned out! I think next time I'll use a contrasting color for the casing and ties and maybe a small swath of the same at the bottom. I think I'll add a bit more length too so it will grow with the wearer longer.

New memberships associations

I just got approved for membership in Etsymom, which is a great forum inside etsy for, you guessed it, moms on Etsy. It is great! Shoutout to my etsy moms!!

I also just joined up with CAST, Christian Artists Street Team, also on Etsy. Good to know there are more people like me on Etsy! Shoutout to CAST members!!

And now for a couple of new things:

first time using rick-rack for trim, turned out great!

First attempt at a complex hairbow - also turned out great!

Blankie I made for a friend of a friend. Added shoestrings to the corners because her son likes to chew on those. Love that idea!
