Modeling Session

I got to have my friend's daughter as a model over the holiday weekend. It was fun! I loved seeing a human being wearing my creations! Here are the highlights.

What a cutie!

Hug-a-tree!

Taking a stick break

Hug-another-tree!

And another!

This is mostly to show off that curly hair!

Here's that boutique dress I made up - it is lined and made from some special occasion-type brocade and chinchilla. Love it!

Amy Butler Dress!

Here is my first dress using designer fabric! It turned out way cute. I've got a few other pieces to put together for other dresses and such now.

The print is Amy Butler's wallflower and I did the straps with 1.5 inch ribbon. I really like the way the 1.5" looks. I believe that is going to become my standard. It really finishes up nicely.

new material - score!!!

I love it when I hit the remnants and find them marked down even more! I gathered up a handful of awesome remnant this evening, along with some other cuts of fabric that I liked. I also ordered some Amy Butler and Michael Millers today for the first time. I can't wait to get my designer prints in!! Woohoo!

I've been working on dresses lately, and have to post the pics of several patriotic ones I did over the weekend. All of them end up different than the last, and I think I like it that way. I am still in the experimentation phase of these dresses anyway, so I like to change it up every time and see what works best for me. I need to catch up with making them all a matching bow! Will post pics tomorrow.

Thanks to Cindi from Rustique Art!

Thanks to Cindi from Rustique Art for the giveaway she sponsored! I won one of her beautiful pieces of art - a cool cross keychain. Cindi is a member of Etsy Dallas and has a cool website here. Check her out!

I got a big order from my Grannie on Monday for 3-4 of every baby basics item I make. That means burp cloths, bibs and blankets. I am also going to use the opportunity to experiment making a hooded towel. I chose light purple for my first try... I'm going to start on that tonight. The blankets turned out super cute - just double sided cotton receiving blankets. I still have some that my mom made when I was a baby, so I know they will hold up.

I scored last night in the fabric section of the other Walmart in town. They had the flag fabric I thought I would never find again! I got 5 yards (almost the whole bolt) and am set to make 7-8 more dresses out of it. Yay! I am also trying to get some matching korker bows worked up at the same time. Have several customs involving this fabric. I knew it would be popular for summer!

I got a serger!! Woohoo! I am so excited to be able to do professional stitched edges now. I tried it out on this, which I also love.
